The Lenovo ThinkSystem RAID 940-8i 4GB Flash PCIe Gen4 12Gb Adapter (Part No. 03LC344) is a high-performance RAID-on-Chip (ROC) internal storage controller designed for Lenovo ThinkSystem servers. Based on the Broadcom SAS3908 tri-mode controller, it delivers enterprise-grade RAID functionality with hardware acceleration, offloading all RAID processing from the host CPU. The adapter's PCIe 4.0 host interface doubles the bandwidth compared to the previous-generation RAID 930 series, supporting up to 3 million IOPS in JBOD mode and up to 3 million IOPS in RAID (random reads). Its Tri-Mode SerDes technology enables simultaneous operation of SAS, SATA, and PCIe/NVMe (U.3) storage devices in a single drive bay — providing maximum storage flexibility for modern enterprise workloads.
